Famous Fighter

French Nieuport 17 (or 23) Aeroplane

This plane, designed by Auguste Delage of the Nieuport Company in 1914, became a famous fighter.
Billy Bishop, the Canadian Ace, flew this type of aircraft racking up 47 of his 72 victories.
The Vickers machine gun can be seen on top of the cowling in front of the cockpit.
