Edmund Henry Allenby and Faisal

Allenby as Field-Marshall conquered Jerusalem, Megido (Armageddon), Damascus and Aleppo. Together with prince Faisal and Lawrence of Arabia he defeated General Otto Liman von Sanders and the Turkish-German Army in Palestine. For his services he was appointed after the war High Commissioner of Egypt and the Sudan. While in Egypt, he was able to get Egypt recognised as a sovereign state, ending any lingering Turkish claims (if not ending the British presence). Allenby was nicknamed 'The Bull'.
