For instance: According to travellers there was scarcely a town or school in Russia from which boys did not run away to the war.

Hundreds of Russian girls went off in boy`s clothes and tried to pass themselves off as boys and enlist as volunteers.

Many of these kids ended their life like the boys on these pictures.
